Thoughtful care. Individualized treatment. Collaborative medicine.
At Bayview Wellington Veterinary Clinic, we believe exceptional veterinary dentistry begins long before a procedure is performed. Every recommendation we make is guided by careful diagnosis, thoughtful clinical judgment, current scientific evidence, and what is in the best interest of each individual patient.
No two patients are the same, and neither are their treatment plans.
Whether your pet is referred for a fractured tooth, advanced periodontal disease, a painful malocclusion, or a complex oral condition, we take the time to understand the whole patient—not just the mouth.
Individualized treatment
Every patient receives a comprehensive oral examination and individualized treatment plan. We consider many factors when making recommendations, including:
- Overall health and medical conditions
- Age and lifestyle
- Oral pain and quality of life
- Function of the teeth and jaws
- Long-term prognosis
- The goals and expectations of each family
Our role is to provide clear information, explain the available options, and help families make informed decisions that are right for both their pet and their circumstances.
Evidence-based dentistry
Veterinary dentistry continues to evolve through ongoing research and advances in technology.
Our recommendations are based on current scientific evidence, advanced training, and clinical experience—not simply tradition or routine. We continually evaluate new research and techniques to ensure our patients receive care that reflects the highest standards of modern veterinary dentistry.
At the same time, we recognize that evidence alone does not make decisions. Every recommendation must be thoughtfully applied to the individual patient sitting in front of us.
Function matters
A healthy mouth is about more than clean teeth.
Our goal is to restore comfort, preserve function whenever possible, and allow pets to eat, play, and live without oral pain.
This philosophy is particularly important when treating malocclusions. While every bite may not be anatomically “perfect,” every bite should be comfortable and free of trauma. Treatment is focused on creating a functional, pain-free mouth rather than achieving cosmetic perfection.
Preserving teeth when appropriate
Whenever possible, we strive to preserve healthy teeth.
Procedures such as root canal therapy, periodontal treatment, and vital pulp therapy may allow important teeth to remain functional for many years. However, preserving a tooth is only recommended when it provides the best long-term outcome for the patient.
When extraction is the better option, we explain why and perform surgery using meticulous techniques designed to minimize discomfort and promote healing.
Patient comfort is our priority
Pain management is an essential part of every procedure.
Every anesthetic protocol and pain management plan is tailored to the individual patient using modern monitoring equipment, local nerve blocks, multimodal analgesia, and careful perioperative care.
Our goal is not only to perform successful procedures, but also to make the experience as safe and comfortable as possible for every patient.
Collaboration leads to better care
We believe the best outcomes are achieved through teamwork.
We work closely with referring veterinarians throughout every stage of diagnosis and treatment and maintain open communication before, during, and after each referral.
For patients with complex medical conditions, we also collaborate with experienced specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, oral pathology, diagnostic imaging, and anesthesia whenever additional expertise will benefit the patient.
Together, this collaborative approach allows us to provide comprehensive care while always keeping the patient’s best interests at the centre of every decision.
Our commitment
Being trusted with the care of a beloved pet is a privilege that we never take for granted.
Every patient is treated with compassion, patience, and respect. Every recommendation is made with honesty and integrity. Every family deserves clear communication and the opportunity to understand their pet’s condition and treatment options.
Whether we are caring for a family pet or working alongside a referring veterinarian, our commitment remains the same:
To provide thoughtful, evidence-based veterinary dentistry that relieves pain, restores function, and improves quality of life.
Care centred on what is best for your pet
Guided by evidence-based dentistry, personalized treatment planning, and meticulous pain management, our priority is always your pet’s long-term comfort and well-being. Whether you are a pet owner seeking answers or a veterinarian looking for a collaborative partner, we are here to support you.
